Call for Applications: Residency Program for Georgian Writers

Tbilisi - World Book Capital 2021

Within the framework of “Tbilisi – World Book Capital 2021”, Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association, in partnership with Tbilisi City Hall, is giving the unique opportunity to Georgian writers to participate in a Residency Program.

The main goal of the program is to promote contemporary Georgian literature and support Georgian writers. The selected participants will be given the opportunity to work on new literary texts in a peaceful and comfortable environment. The conditions provided by the project will help to increase the motivation of the authors, paving way for productive sessions and creative activities, which will result in the creation of completely new literary works ready to be published.

All Georgian authors, who have published at least one book, are eligible to apply. In order to participate in the project, it is necessary to sign an agreement with a Georgian publishing house, responsible for the publication of the text created within this particular project. The program seeks to create a peaceful working environment for at least five Georgian writers with a duration of 30 days in at least five different cities across Georgia (writers are welcome to select the duration of the participation in the program which can be either 15 days or 1 month). Accommodation, transportation costs, and food will be fully provided for.

The Residency program will take place in the summer. It is one of the many projects that Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association will be implementing this year, within the framework of “Tbilisi – World Book Capital”. Tbilisi - The World Book Capital is a UNESCO project implemented with the financial support of Tbilisi City Hall. The general sponsor of the project is the Bank of Georgia.
